Andrew Muir, Chairman of The Good Guys and renovation enthusiast, was delighted to announce that The Good Guys has partnered with Channel Nine’s The Block for the hit TV program’s Fans v Faves series which returns to Australian screens next week.

The Block was 2013’s number one program in all target demographics and returns next Monday night with four partners and two sponsors, including the leading electrical retailer.

Sponsoring The Block for the first time, The Good Guys will provide contestants with designer kitchens, electrical appliances and bonus prizes.

Mr Muir said the move was a natural fit for The Good Guys, with customers regularly discussing their own home renovations with team members in store.

“We are really excited about getting behind the teams in The Block: Fans v Faves because we feel we have been on this journey with our customers for so many years already – with renovations and creative changes in the home,” said Andrew.

“It will be fantastic to help each of the teams find that perfect appliance combination for each of their rooms – and help them create that perfect designer Kitchen on a budget,” he said.

Nine Entertainment Co. Group Sales & Marketing Director, Peter Wiltshire, said: “The Block remains the standout vehicle for clients to build their brand. Last year’s Sky High delivered 1.4 million viewers for 56 engaging episodes and a whopping 3.2 million for The Winner Announcement.”

Sarah Stewart, Nine’s Head of Content & Brand Integration, said: “The market has always responded positively to The Block, but this season, with all our partners and sponsors activating The Block IP, it’s a really clear demonstration that the market truly understands the power of the format to connect consumers with their brand.”

With Fans v Faves, The Block is now in its eighth season and a vacant shell awaits the Blockheads as they are tasked with converting the old Dux Theatre in Melbourne’s Albert Park into four three-bedroom, loft-style apartments – but in the toughest challenge ever set, there are no internal walls, no floors, no roof and no plumbing!
