Andrew Muir Toys Around for April Appeal

March 1, 2013 By News

Andrew Muir, Chairman of The Good Guys, is calling on customers to donate to the Fire Foundation’s Orange Toy Box Appeal this month at The Good Guys, to help raise funds towards purchasing new toys for local children who have lost everything due to fire.

Partnering with the Fire Foundation, an organisation providing emergency packs with food, clothing, accommodation vouchers and medical supplies when families experience the devastating impacts of fire, The Good Guys aims to raise awareness and funds for the organisation throughout its 98 stores across Australia.

Mr Muir said Good Guys across the country are looking forward to generating some additional support for the Appeal.

“This is definitely a worthwhile cause for us to support. It’s easy to forget what exactly families lose due to fires. It’s not just their home, but all of their belongings, including personal possessions that have sentimental value and of course toys,” said Andrew.

“At The Good Guys are passionate about helping those in our communities and by partnering with The Fire Foundation, we are hoping to bring a little bit of joy to some of the kids that have been affected by devastating fires,” he said.

Jodee says supporting children during a time like this is vital in helping families rebuild their lives.

“We are so grateful that The Good Guys is supporting the Orange Toy Box Appeal,” said Jodee. “When family homes are destroyed by fire we work tirelessly to provide a service to help rebuild lives. This includes counselling and putting people in touch with others who are going through the same thing.”

Jodee continued, “something often overlooked is children’s toys, and it’s so important for children to be nurtured during a time which causes severe disruption to their lives.”

Customers can donate in The Good Guys stores between April 1 and April 30, 2013.

Andrew is also encouraging the local community to change their smoke alarm batteries this month in line with Daylight Savings changes to prevent fires.
