The meaning of being a Responsible Retailer.

The Good Guys, has been made a finalist in the Responsible Retailer of the Year category at the World Retail Awards 2016. According to the Awards organisers, the shortlist will now be handed over to the Grand Jury, who will meet to discuss and debate the shortlists and choose the winners before the Congress begins on April 12.

The prestigious Madinat Jumeirah in Dubai will play host to the Awards Ceremony and Gala dinner in Dubai on April 14, the closing day of the World Retail Congress.

“Winning a World Retail Award and specifically this award for customer loyalty means a lot to us. We love our customer, we revere our customer, so to be recognized for the work that we’ve done in this incredible global forum is amazing,” Mindy Grossman, CEO, HSNi said.

Meanwhile, The Good Guys Chairman, Andrew Muir told Appliance Retailer, “We’re truly honoured to have been recognised in the World Retail Awards 2016 as a finalist in the Responsible Retailer of the Year category.”

Muir said that “doing good is deeply entrenched in The Good Guys values and we are passionate about strengthening the communities in which we operate. We do this through a number of strategic Doing Good programs and activities.”

TGG  has been made a finalist for its Super Hero Academy launched in 2015 designed to help improve the mental and physical wellbeing of primary school aged children by empowering them to discover their inner super hero strengths and capabilities.

Since launching in September, Muir said that The Good Guys Super Hero Academy has visited four states, delivered 118 workshops and 240 hours of super hero fun to 4,190 children.

“Further to The Good Guys Super Hero Academy, we also donate more than a million dollars each year through our Local Giving Program to charities that deliver essential programs, services and grass-roots projects in the local communities in which we operate. We are proud to support Jamie’s Ministry of Food Australia, Orange Sky Laundry and over 100 other local charities around Australia.

“To us, being a responsible retailer goes far beyond the traditional meaning of the words. It is more than just a matter of corporate social responsibility – it has been part of the company’s DNA since 1952 and is an integral part of what it means to be a Good Guy.”
