Jamie Oliver and The Good Guys Join Forces on Ipswich Flood Relief Program

Providing support to the flood victims of Queensland, Jamie’s Ministry of Food Australia and The Good Guys are proud to announce the Jamie’s Ministry of Food Australia Flood Relief programme, offering free evening meals to the Ipswich community.

In the wake of the recent flooding, Jamie’s Ministry of Food Australia and The Good Guys will activate a Flood Relief program offering free meals to 250 people per day from Wednesday, January 20 at the Jamie’s Ministry of Food Ipswich centre location, which remains without flood damage.

“In view of the recent flood disaster we recognise that many people will be without the basic comforts of home and feel that one way we can support the community is by offering home cooked nutritious meals,” says Jamie Oliver of the Jamie’s Ministry of Food Flood Relief programme.

Funded by The Good Guys, the free meal program will run initially for two weeks and potentially longer should the need remain. The program will offer nutritious meals from 6 pm until 7:30pm daily.

The intention is to feed the people of Ipswich nutritious meals for no cost while the community starts to rebuild.

Andrew Muir, Chairman of The Good Guys, the founding partner of Jamie’s Ministry of Food Australia, says the initiative will hopefully provide some relief to those in the community who are working tirelessly in the clean-up effort.

“The conditions are devastating and there is much to be done in the effort to restore the community,” said Andrew. “By working with Jamie’s Ministry of Food we are able to provide some good food and nutrition at a time when people need it the most, and that is important.”

This initiative has been developed to address the immediate need for healthy meals for those without access to kitchens or the time and resources to provide food for themselves or families.

Given the devastation to the local area, Jamie’s Ministry of Food Australia has reassessed their plans for the Ipswich centre opening and delayed construction in order to accommodate the Flood Response program.

People wishing to take advantage of the Jamie’s Ministry of Food Flood Relief program should visit the Ipswich City Council for ticket allocation. Tickets will be distributed in a ‘first in best dressed’ fashion.
